2018 Sectionals Results

Congratulations to Cate McKee for placing 1st in both Star 7 and Juvenile Ladies. Myah Ewing for placing 3rd Star 7 and Juvenile ladies for NS. Jacob Côte 1st for NS in Juvenile men and second overall. Kayla Deveau 3rd in Pre Novice Ladies. Kayla will be heading to Montreal at the end of the month for 2018 Skate Canada Challenge.

Skate NS Jan Clattenburg Merit Award

The Dartmouth Skating Club would like to congratulate 10-year-old Cate McKee for winning the Skate Nova Scotia Jan Clattenburg Merit Award for her performances last weekend at Skate Canada Nova Scotia Sectional Championships in Amherst NS.

The Jan Clattenburg Award is presented to the skater(s) who have exemplified the most deserving performance during Skate Canada Nova Scotia Sectional Championships.

Kayla Qualifies for 2018 Skate Canada Challenge

Congratulations to Kayla Deveau for qualifying to compete in the 2018 Skate Canada Challenge in Quebec from November 29 to December 3. Kayla’ s 3rd place finish in the Pre Novice Ladies at Sectionals secured her spot to represent Nova Scotia on a national level.

Over 500 of the finest skaters from across Canada will participate in the 2017 Skate Canada Challenge.

Frances Glenwright Memorial Award

It was an exciting evening at the rink tonight for one of DSC’s skaters. Myah Cacao Ewing received the Frances Glenwright Memorial award, for her performance this past weekend in NB at Skate Canada NS Sectionals, where she placed 3rd in the Pre Juvenile Ladies Event.

Summer Skating Program

Dartmouth Skating Club ran the summer skating program in July and August out of the Centennial Arena in Halifax. Skaters are given the opportunity to continue training throughout the summer months as well as complete off-ice conditioning, prepare for summer test days and some even traveled to Ontario for a competition.

The skaters also have lots of fun at the summer sessions and it is not uncommon to see the arena filled with skaters in neon or Halloween costumes while they enjoy some ice cream.

Stars on Ice Raffle Winners

stars-on-iceThe winner of the DSC lottery for the 10 seats in the Skybox at the Scotiabank Centre for the “Stars on Ice” show held on April 29th was Michael C.  The Skybox was donated to the DSC by the Royal Bank of Canada.

2016 Skatefest

2016-skatefest-4The Dartmouth Skating Club sent 9 skaters to a competition called Skatefest on Saturday, March 12th, 2016 at St. Margaret’s Arena in Tantallon. The skaters received silver and  gold status after performing various elements they are working on from the CanSkate program. Some skaters performed their solo and participated in a speed event.

Stephie Walmsley Competing at Nationals
